Check Health Through Tongue

Did you know you can actually tell when something may be wrong with your body through the color of your tongue? It’s true, if your tongue is displaying a non-normal color, shape and texture it could be a key to a health problem you are experiencing or some kind of imbalance in your body. Here are a few common things to keep an eye out for next time you are checking out your tongue:

· Red color - excess heat

· Pale color - body needs some rest and you may be cold often, can be an indication of poor circulation

· Purple or Blue color - too much sugar in the body from sugary foods or sodas

· Thin tongue shape - could be a sign of anemia or some other deficiency in the blood or fluid

· Trembling tongue - spleen problem

· Elongated - heart heat

· Cracks - could be a sign of a heart imbalance

· Curling sides - may indicate something going on with your liver

A normal tongue should be pink with a light coat on it. The shape should be medium thickness and with no cracks. It is believed that the each area of the tongue is connected to specific internal organs in your body. Liver is the sides of tongue. Spleen is the center, back of the tongue is the Kidney and the tip of the tongue is your heart. A tongue diagnosis is a major part of the Chinese Medical assessment. A complete and accurate tongue assessment can only be done by a qualified practitioner.

Check Health Through Hair
Changes in hair doesn’t necessarily mean you have any kind of health issues. It could just be genetics. Graying early is always thought of being a show of stress, well if your parents grayed early it is a good sign that you may also. But some things that happen to your hair are a direct result of health problems.

Hair thinning can be a sign of protein or iron deficiency. Those suffering with an eating disorder will usually develop visible thinning. Once the health problem is corrected the hair will begin to grow back. Baldness can be inherited but baldness known as Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune disease that is linked to genetics. It causes smooth bald patches anywhere on the body, not just the head. This hair will grow back.

Dry, brittle hair doesn’t have to mean you are damaging your hair with hair products. It may be growing thin and brittle. An improper diet can lead to this. Lack of protein and essential fatty acids can lead to your hair look damaged.

A common hair problem is dandruff. Dandruff is usually associated with have a dry scalp but it could also be because of seborrheic dermatitis. This condition is an inflammatory problem of the scalp. Psoriasis and Eczema are other health conditions that can show up as a dry flaky scalp. These conditions all may result in a scaly, itchy, red scalp which will produce small to large flakes.

Keep yourself healthy and your hair will show it. If you ever start to notice major changes in hair seek out a health care professional for help. It may take more than just a trip to the beauty salon.
