Losing Weight With Yoga

yogaIs it really possible to lose weight with Yoga?

To find out we have to take a look at what we need to do to lose weight. The basics of weight loss are eating healthy foods particularly fruits and vegetables . Exercise regularly enough to get the heart pumping quickly for at least 30 minutes preferably more. A good walk or jogging will be sufficient if you are like many others and don’t want to or do not like going to the gym. This all leads to us burning calories and to us using up our bodies fat reserves.

This is not the fastest way to lose weight but is said to be the safest and most efficient way in that you don’t put it back on again as soon as you stop the diet.

At first look weight loss and Yoga don’t really go together, Yoga is about calming and peaceful exercise learning to be at one with ourselves and our bodies and not making our heart rate rise and getting exhausted.

Having said the above you can certainly get benefits from Yoga while trying to lose weight like feeling at at peace with yourself, being happy with who you are, getting more flexible and improving strength and muscle tone. Even after saying this there are types of Yoga that will help you gain weight these are quite aggressive styles called vinyasa or flow yoga
