Are You Eating Too Much Fiber?

Eating foods high in fiber are excellent for your health. However, adding too much fiber in your diet too quickly can lead to a plethora of health concerns:
  • Cramping
  • Intestinal Gas
  • Abdominal Bloating
When it comes to eating foods high in fiber, it's best to increase your intake gradually over a few weeks to allow your digestive system and your body in general to adjust to the increased intake of fiber.

One very important thing to understand is that fiber works best with it's best friend.....water. Drinking plenty of water daily not only is beneficial for you for the obvious reasons, but also because when drinking plenty of water, fiber absorbs it and it goes through your digestive system much more better. This will also make your stool much more softer and easier to pass.

Now, on the flip side of this, by increasing your daily fiber intake and you do not drink plenty of water daily, the end result will be constipation! Trust me, it has happened to me before! I remember one day I had Raisin Bran for breakfast, apple cider vinegar, an apple later in the day, a ton of green veggies, and I only had around 20 oz. of water by the time that was all consumed......I think I was in tears on the toilet...........................lol!

Now since eating plenty of fiber daily can keep your digestive system busy, this can cause a significant boost in your metabolism. And as you well may know, the better your metabolism is running, the more fat you'll burn.

So, allow your body to get adjusted to your increase of eating foods rich in fiber and make sure you are drinking plenty of water daily to allow the fiber to do it's magic!
